100% of your donations goes to support programs for Cadets and Alumni

The Cadet Foundation is currently 100% all volunteer with no paid employees. Cadets are officers on its Board of Directors and, working with alumni on the Board and The Preston Society as the advisory committee The Cadet Foundation develops and executes projects and programs by cadets and alumni, with cadets and alumni. Below are just a few examples.

The Cadet Newspaper

Forced to close by VMI  in 2019 cadets, with alumni support, restarted the The Cadet under The Cadet Foundation in 2021. One of the oldest independent college newspapers in Virginia it continues to win accolates competing against professional jornalists including 7 Virginia Press Association awards, three National Best Newspaper Awards, and the Intercollegiate Studies Institute's William F. Cadets Attend the 2024 Presidential Inaugural

Thanks to the donations from alumni and other supporters of The Cadet Foundation the staff of The Cadet were credentialed by the Senate and Presidentail Inaugural Committee to join members of the national and international media as peers to cover all the events of President Donald Trump's second Inauguration. Cadets win Virginia's highest Journalism award

The staff of The Cadet newspaper became the first and only student newspaper in the Virginia Press Association's 75+ year history to win its coveted award for Journalistic Integrity and Community Service.

Support to VMI Rugby

Through the generous supports of its donors The Cadet Foundation supported the VMI Rugby Club and the team's alumni supports with a tailgate at Regional Championships and other matches. Through the generous supports of its donors The Cadet Foundation supported the VMI Hockey Club and the team's alumni  with a tailgates bringing together alumni to connect with our great cadets and each other! Our donors made this possible as well as livestreaming games and purchasing team jerseys and other equipment cadets could not afford and VMI will not provide. Donate today

Honoring Heroes at Arlington

Funded an organized by The Cadet Foundation one of our cadets had the unique opportunity to place a wreat at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetary. He rpudly and honorably represented all that is important and good about VMI and the citiczen-solders it produces. Donate today.

Class Rings for those in Need

When some members of the Class of 2024  were unable to pay the fees of their Class Rings Mr. Dan Prall ’62 started an effort to help cadets in need obtain their Class Rings in honor of his roommate and Brother Rat Sam Clement ’62 who passed away 11 August 2022 from complications arising from spinal surgery.  Your donations will help keep this important program going.

Ian Anderson Interview
Funded and organized by The Cadet Foundation, cadets has the opportunity to spend a day with progessive Rock legend Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) and his back during a concert tour. They followed with an indepth interview learning about his inspirational life and music.
Supporting The Bomb

When the staff of VMI iconic yearbook and the nation’s first college annual, The Bomb embarked on a creative journey embracing a blend of tradition and innovation to capture the essence of VMI’s storied legacy using traditional film photography, The Cadet Foundation was there. After VMI failed to support the project with film, developing and film Camers The Cadet foundation provided the needed funding and arranged for alumni to loan their camera to help with the project. Honoring Alumni we lost

The Cadet Foundation cherishes the inspiration and legacy of our alumni. Through our program to honor alumni we lost, The Cadet Foundation works with Brother Rates to develop personalized memorial videos.
